Why you need to show your talents and/or join in contests
There are many talented/skilled people in the world, and many of them complain
why the world does not recognize them. The answer is simple, and it could be
one or more of the following:
1. Many talented people simply comment on the works of others, but they
themselves don't put their own skills to the test.
For example: A smart person finds errors in someone else's artwork. This
smart person thinks that he/she is better, but does not prove his/her
own skills.
2. There are people who are to "shy" or "embarassed" to show their work. They
think that they aren't good enough.
3. Laziness.
4. They don't know what to do.
5. They gain no support.
6. Discouragement. They think that since they are not the best, then they
have no right to use their talents.
We do not believe in such. No one becomes the best by simply trying
something for the first time. Talents need to be built and improved. You
will become the best someday if you start using your skills and continue
trying until you are number 1.
Thus, one of our purposes for the following competitions/contests is to give
people reasons why they should try using their talents. It is not enough for
a person to comment on the works of others, he/she must try the actual thing
himself too.
If you will be too shy or embarassed to show what you can do, then how can
people know that you are a skilled person? If you keep on becoming embarassed,
you might end up complaining why the world doesn't notice your skills.
We also help people by...
1. Encouraging them to start and finish their work. Being unable to start
and finish one's work is the mistake of many (or most) people. They
can't start because they think they have too many ideas, and then
can't finish because they continually change/revise their work. Other
people start another project before finishing another one.
We were once guilty of this mistake. We started so many projects before
which we were unable to finish. This time, we always try to finish one
thing before another, so we have accomplishments and not simply plans.
2. Giving something to do. There are those who don't work or use their
talents simply because no one asks them to. Thus, if you need ideas
and/or encouragement, or if you want to be pushed/forced into starting
your project, then simply ask us to help you and we would most probably
will.
3. Encouraging people that their efforts will soon be rewarded, and their
efforts will be accepted even if they are not yet the best.
4. Providing services/products and assistance.
Other possible prizes/rewards
1. We may choose to reward you with one of our products/services for free.
For example, if you want us to promote your work at no charge/fee to you,
then we may do so.
2. If a customer/buyer wishes to purchase your product, we will negotiate
with you so you can make a profit out of your work.
3. We can help you improve your work by giving comments and/or tutorials/
materials.
4. Your work can be included in our other projects. Of course, if we benefit
from such projects which use your work, then we will share the benefit(s)
with you.
What attitude(s) we expect/want from those who will submit
1. The attitude/thought of "its not always about the reward and the money."
In other words, we want people who use their talents not only because of
the money.
This group/website began/started because of our intentions to use our
talent(s) and/or skills. It was not always about the money which we were
concerned of. In fact, we went through tough times to even start operating
this website.
We believe that true talented people love what they do, and they enjoy
using/building their talents. Thus, we are more interested in people who
use their talents even if there is no money in return.
Many (or a majority) of wealthy/rich people and businessmen even believe
that they themselves work not only for the money, but because they love
what they do, and they enjoy managing their business. Their ideas become
implemented, and their business/businesses are usually related to the
talents and styles which they have.
2. Patient (can wait for results). Talented people are expected to be patient
in building their own talents and in making others convinced of their
skills. Please do not be in a hurry to be the best. People don't become
the best overnight or in a short time only.
It usually takes months (or even years) for one to be truly good/skilled
in the talent/field that he/she chooses.
Also, if you will submit to us, please wait until the time when we have
decided whether your work is good/acceptable or not. However, we usually
decide after a short period of time, and most types of submissions are
acceptable to us.
3. Can accept defeat and/or failure. If you aren't the best, or people don't
view your work as good, then please be patient and accept it. We can't
force people into accepting what we do. However, many talented people who
have experienced failure used their failure to learn new things and improve
their skills.
It was said that Albert Einstein himself experienced failing an entrance
exam at least once in his life.
4. Doing their/your best. Many people submit their work because they want to
improve their skills and to show others what they can do. If you can do
your best, you will have a higher chance of being recognized.
However, we still consider those people who want to keep some things
secret. We understand and it is ok with us if you want to submit a reduced
quality work. However, people (or the viewers/testers) of your work won't
know whether you did your best or not, unless of course, if you show it
to them.
5. Want to coordinate or partner with us. What we are really interested with
are people who are willing to participate and partner with us. We are
extending/offering our help and we hope that people would grab/take this
opportunity. Very few companies/organizations are willing to form lasting/
permanent relationships with their customers and contributors.
Thus, we hope that you won't reject our willingness/desire to partner with
you.

List of contests/competitions
1. Drawing/Art - Compare your work(s) with those of others. Depending on the
number of people who will submit and/or the number of the applicants, we
may choose to give a cash prize between 300-1000 for a one-page artwork.
2. Coloring contest or Photoshop-related competition. We have many images in
our database/storage which need "clean-up" and coloring. These images were
the results of our previous/past days of trials and errors.
Although we now rarely produce such "errors," we still want them to be
put to good use. So, instead of throwing them away, we have decided to
look for volunteers who are skilled and prepared/willing to "fix" them.
Of course, if you are one of those who are able to fix such, and if we
afterwards use such images, then you can share the profits/benefits with
us.
3. Web-design. May use flash/dreamweaver/frontpage/notepad, etc. It doesn't
really matter what software or tools you use, as long as you can provide
a good layout and design for the website.
If your entry is good, we may choose to negotiate and/or partner with you
in one or more of the following ways:
A. If you used such a layout/design for your website, then we can link to
your site from ours, and even promote yours as well.
B. You can include or merge/combine your site with ours. In other words,
your site can be a part of ours. You may also borrow some of our web
pages for your website. You still get credits for your work/creation,
though.
C. We can offer to purchase/buy and/or combine/merge with your website in
exchange for our products/services/assistance.
Our group is planning on purchasing/buying/trading domain names and/or
websites, which are related to our organization and services/products.
This is one of our ideas for expansion.
4. Game creation/development. Mini-games and/or flash games are ok, as long
as they can target and/or satisfy a type or group of people.
If we like your work, we may offer you help by coordinating/merging your
work with those of our software-related groups. A leading/large computer
college here in the Philippines has a software group which is looking for
new projects to develop.
Aside from that, there are also many programmers here in our country which
can help you.
5. Story writing. We are interested in stories which are unique in their
own way. Any genre (such as action, suspense, mystery, romance, comedy,
etc), can be accepted, but please avoid using "overused" words and/or
themes/ideas. Originality adds to the flavor of your story.
You may get ideas from popular or existing stories, but please avoid
copying them or taking too much ideas from them. As we mentioned above,
originality adds to the flavor...
6. Essay writing. We are looking for original essays/write-ups which explains
and/or discusses either one or both of the following:
A. A rare type of idea or observation. For example, you want to write
an essay which is related to politics, but you are more interested
in discussing ways and/or steps on how the government can improve
its services.
Surprising to many, such a type of essay mentioned above is rare.
It is because most (or many) people want to discuss about bad things
in politics these days. However, what we are more interested in is
HOW we can change things, not what things simply are.
B. An idea which is shared by the general public or a majority of people.
Things such as politics, human emotions, etc. are topics which most
people are interested in. Thus, if your essays can "touch" or "discuss"
one or more if these common ideas, then your essays can gain extra
points.
However, although you will be discussing common ideas, please add
originality to your work by including rare types of ideas, as
mentioned in letter A above.
7. Poem writing - this is related to essay writing. Please read the above
section.
8. Best thesis. It's about time that thesis be evaluated by other people
aside from teachers in schools/colleges and managers in companies. Show
us your skills and ideas by letting the public know. In the end, it's
really the opinion of the public which is valued most, especially those
who are potential or possible customers.
You can submit a thesis which you have already completed. We could also
do one or more of the following:
A. Market your thesis or present it as a marketable/good documentation.
B. Use it as a guide, especially in designing courseware in the future.
(Courseware are guides which are used by schools in determining/knowing
what to teach to students).
Although we accept any type of presentable thesis (whether such are
traditional/common or original), we are more interested in original types
of thesis.
There are many types of thesis, some of which are related to:
1. Computers
2. Psychology
3. Politics/government
4. Science
etc...
Although we may consider accepting common thesis such as those related to
payroll systems and inventory systems, we are less interested in such
(since such are already very common these days) than unique ones such as a
"script formatting system," an automated website design program, etc.
If you are looking for one or more ideas which you can use in your thesis,
then you can negotiate and coordinate with us for such. Of course, we will
give you ideas which you are able to implement, so such ideas are related
(or matches) your skills.
